And The Liebster Award Goes To…

I am pretty stoked right now. Last week, I got nominated for not one, but two Liebster awards. Thanks to Alexis and Luke for nominating me. The Liebster award is an online recognition award given by bloggers to fellow bloggers. The award is usually given to bloggers with 200 or less subscribers. Simply put, the Liebster award is a great way to welcome new bloggers to the community, discover new blogs as well as create exposure for all those involved. So, what does one do when they receive a Liebster award? I am required to answer the questions from my nominees, nominate 11 blogs, as well as compile 11 questions for my nominees. Since I was nominated twice, and I don’t want this to be a super long post, I will be randomly choosing questions from each of my nominees to answer a total of 11 questions. So, let’s get started.

Why did you begin blogging?

Throughout University, I was required to maintain a blog as part of various course requirements. Over the course of the semester, I simply fell in love with blogging. I have since continued writing as a way to perfect my writing skills. As a young Christian, its not easy to live a Christian life in a world filled with attractive alternatives. Blogging for me is a way to encourage and inspire others to not only live a Christian life but also provide them with resources to build the lives they desire.

What’s your favorite curse used by Gordon Ramsey?

I love Gordon Ramsey but I am more of a Cutthroat Kitchen fan with Alton Brown. Cutthroat Kitchen is where chefs compete for cash. Each chef is given $25,000 dollar at the start, but their cash diminishes as they choose to pay for sabotages to give to competing chefs. Should they be the last man standing, they walk away with the cash they have remaining. The sabotages are usually pretty extreme such as: prepping upside down, using aluminum foil and plastics as your pots and pans or even getting your ingredients from a gumball machine (likely to be pretty time consuming). I would say, these would be some of my favorite sabotages, it’s a great show to watch if you get a chance.

Where do you see your blog in the next, say, two years?

In the next two years, I would like to build an engaged community around my blog who are not only inspired by the content I create but who I am encouraged by as well. I would also love to have a self-supported blog, no out of the pocket expenses. Blogging can be pretty expensive when you add up all the paid services subscribed to.

What does the phrase Courage is grace under pressure mean to you? (Hemingway quote)

When situations arise that are causing you great discomfort or stress, being bold and classy in maintaining your cool under pressure.

Tea or coffee?

I am not a coffee drinker, but I do experiment with different kinds of teas. I am more of a hot chocolate drinker. Bring me a cup of Starbucks Hot Chocolate, and you would have made my day.

If you could be a crayon, what color would you be and why?

I would definitely choose purple, it’s my favorite color. Purple depicts creativity, ambition, independence, which all speak to the type of person I am.

If you could be fluent in another language, what language would it be?

French all the way, I started learning French in high school but never continued it. Its one of those things that has been on my mind that I want to do but haven’t quite gotten around to getting it done. French is such a beautiful and romantic language, I love it. Did I mention it’s also Canada’s second language?

Are you a Disney, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network fan?

Definitely a Disney fan, I grew up watching Disney. I am probably showing my age here, but some of my favorite series at the time were: Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven, Hannah Montana and Even Stevens.

What does your go-to outfit consist of?

My go to outfit is a pair of skinny jeans, a comfy top and a pair of heels.

What’s your favorite genre of music to listen to?

I tend to listen to gospel music, I find it very soothing and uplifting and it put my mind in a frame of worship. I also listen to country, soul music and pop.

If you could meet any celebrity in the world, who would it be and why?

I would probably say Oprah Winfrey. She battled the odds of a less than stellar childhood to become a household name. I would love to pick her brain, and learn about how she excelled above the odds and ultimately created her empire which has benefited many over the years.
