Bible verses about summer

SUMMER is here! Summertime is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, relax, and spend time with family and friends. The summer sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the flowers are in bloom- it must be summer!

Where I live, we typically get 8 months of winter, so when summer rolls around I get super excited to be outside more enjoying God’s beautiful creations. With all of the wonderful things that come with this season, there are also plenty of Bible verses about summer to enjoy.

Summer Meaning in the Bible

Summer is a time of year that is typically associated with warm weather, long days, and lazy afternoons. However, the Bible has a different meaning for summer. In the book of Ecclesiastes, summer is described as a time of harvest, when crops are gathered and the world is filled with abundance. Summer is also a time of labor, when people must work hard to bring in the harvest. Summer is a time to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

In Northern Canada, at the peak of summer they roughly get 20 hours of daylight hardly getting any night time. Can you imagine the sun still shining brightly at 2 AM? This reminds me of the story in the Bible showcasing God’s power where he made the sun stand still allowing Joshua and his army to defeat the Amorites. Quite the phenomenon, you can read about it in Joshua chapter 10.
