I was knee deep in washing dirty laundry, listening to my favorite weekly podcast as a way to make a dreaded task more enjoyable. What the host said next caught me off guard. She told a personal story of how she found the chocolate amongst reading the pages of the Bible.  She found what I thought? Reading my Bible felt more like eating a plate of salad rather than a smooth delectable chocolate bar.  

Determined to find the chocolate among the pages of the Bible like she did instead of the unappetizing salad I felt it was all these years, I resurrected my desire to read the Bible. Despite having failed other numerous attempts to read the Bible in a year.

Hold that thought though, I have some exciting news to share about our read the Bible in a year challenge this year, so make sure you read to the very end of the post.

I delved into the pages of Genesis to Revelation with a resolute desire to encounter God’s word personally and find the smooth delectable chocolate amongst the pages of the Bible. The most surprising revelation for me was that I found genuine enjoyment in reading the Bible, dispelling the notion that it was the dull book I had imagined.

Perhaps your journey differs from mine, but if you yearn for a deeper connection with God—whether you’re a new believer, someone who has strayed, or a lifelong Christian—my hope is that you, too, will discover a profound love for the Word of God, just as I did. Which is why I created this free printable read the Bible in a year reading plan.

My desire is for us to dive into the word and get to know the God of the Bible. You just might fall head over heel in love with him in the process.

This read the Bible in a year plan goes through the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation in book order based on how the books of the Bible are organized. On average you will read three chapters each day lasting around 15 minutes. Just a minimum 15 minutes is all you need. Think about it, if you have time to scroll social media, you certainly have time to read your Bible.

These are 30-day Bible reading plans except in cases where a month has 31 or 28 days to help you read the bible in an entire year. The readings are organized based on the month of the year however don’t feel that you must start on January 1, you can start at any point during the year.

Simply download and print and add to you favorite Bible Study Binder. I also like using this handbook to gain context of the book of the Bible I am reading. While you can certainly access a variety of read the Bible in a year-plans on your phone, I like having a printed plan, as I tend to get easily distracted when trying to read my Bible on my phone, often stopping my reading to browse social media instead of completing the daily readings.

So here is the big news I wanted to share with you. Its scary and so exciting at the same time! I will be taking our read the Bible in a year challenge to new levels. I launched a YouTube Channel, where I will be reading the Bible in a year for you, that’s 365 videos, 1 video for each day of the week along with posting a weekly Bible Recap where I share what I have been learning each week with you. I will also be including reflection questions to help you go deeper.

How to Use a A Free Printable Bible in A Year Reading Plan

I have been sharing this idea with my YouTube subscribers and I want to share it with you too. I plan on adding my Bible in a year reading plan to my favorite binder alongside the weekly reflection questions and any helpful articles I come across. At the end of the year, you will have a wonderful visual reminder of your journey in the word over the past year. 

While the idea of reading the entire Bible in a year is admirable and we have good intentions, it’s crucial to set realistic goals. Incorporate your reading time into your daily routine. Whether it’s in the morning with a cup of coffee or before bedtime, consistency is key. Treat it as a sacred appointment  with God. 

Enhance your reading experience by journaling your thoughts and reflections. Write down verses that resonate with you, record your insights, and jot down any questions you have. This practice not only deepens your understanding but also provides a valuable record of your journey in the word.

Consider also sharing your reading plan with a friend or join a community of fellow readers. Having an accountability partner can motivate you to stay on track, share insights, and discuss challenging passages.

Life is unpredictable, and there will be days when sticking to your reading plan becomes challenging. Be flexible and gracious with yourself. If you miss a day, don’t be discouraged. Pick up where you left off and continue with renewed commitment. Before and after your reading session, take a moment for prayer. Seek guidance, understanding, and an open heart to receive the messages within the text.

Celebrate your achievements along the way. Whether it’s completing a book or reaching a specific milestone, acknowledge and appreciate the progress you’ve made in your journey through the Bible.

I like that not only is it beautifully designed, coffee table worthy, it includes a commentary with each daily readings to help with understanding the verse and making it relatable and also that for each day they included reflection questions to help you with going deeper.
